Rs. 36 crores distributed to SHGs

60 panchayats get computers; `recovery rate good'

ERODE: Collector D. Karthikeyan has said the district administration has so far provided Rs. 36.12 crores as revolving fund and loan to 8, 499 self-help groups (SHGs) this year.

Speaking at a function held on Saturday to distribute certificates to the members who underwent computer training at the Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, Mr. Karthikeyan said the district has deposited Rs. 25.02 crores in the saving accounts.

The Collector said that there are 12,961 SHGs functioning in the district with 1,89,788 members. He said 60 panchayats in the district were provided with computers and the respective panchayat officials given training. .

Recovery rate good

Joint Registrar of Cooperatives B. Joghee said on Friday that through the Erode District Central Cooperative Bank Rs. 13 crores has been granted to 5,332 SHGs in the district in the current year and the recovery rate is 90 per cent.

Distributing gold loan to the farmers at Veerappanchatram Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank, he also said that 45 SHGs had been given permission to run ration shops.

He said during this year Rs. 7.50 crores has been granted to farmers as gold loan.
