ERODE: There was tension at the Dharapuram Municipal office on Friday following alleged suicide by an employee of the Health Department. According to police, Tirumurugan Annadurai, a driver with the department, was found in an unconscious state. Immediately he was taken to the Dharapuram Government Hospital and to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. But he died on the way. On information the municipal Health Department employees and sanitary workers gathered near the municipal office and held a demonstration alleging that higher officials tortured him. Police have registered a case of suicide and are investigating. A memorandum in this connection has been sent to the Chief Minister and the Collector demanding action against the officials.
