Staff Reporter
NIZAMABAD: The Senior Citizens Forum, Nizamabad has made a fervent appeal to Governor and Chancellor of Universities Sushil Kumar Shinde to consider Nizamabad for setting up an additional university in Telangana region as it has every facility to cater to the needs of students, faculty and staff. According to reports published in a section of the press a high power committee which had met on Thursday under the presidentship of Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Council Chairman K.C. Reddy proposed to recommend the Government to establish three additional universities one each in Telangana, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra. It also reportedly selected districts where the universities would be set up and the additional university in Telangana region was proposed to be located either in Karimnagar or Nalgonda district. If it true, the move would result in irreparable loss to Nizamabad and Adilabad districts and a part of Medak district in north Telangana and create an imbalance among the Telangana districts in the field of higher education. Forum president C. Vithoba felt that north Telangna in general and Nizamabad district in particular lacked sufficient number of educational institutions when compared to other districts in Telangana.
