VIJAYAWADA: In view of the bumper yield of paddy this kharif, District Collector Navin Mittal on Saturday asked millers to ensure that farmers got Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the produce they bring to markets. Reviewing the action plan for paddy procurement with millers and officials, the Collector said that the Government had fixed Rs. 600 per quintal for `A' grade paddy and Rs. 570 for other quality. The millers had a responsibility to ensure that the markets did not fluctuate on account of high yield of paddy this year. Millers could bring to his notice administrative problems, the Collector told them. Food Corporation of India (FCI) Divisional Manager Rajagopal said the corporation would set up seven purchasing centres in the district. Millers could utilise the godown space FCI offers, he suggested. Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation Divisional Manager Gopala Krishna said that his organisation would set up 25 procurement centres. It had already purchased the paddy damaged due to heavy rain in the district.
