WORDS OF WELCOME: Secretary of Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education P. L. N Prasad greeting the Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University V Bala Mohan Das at a seminar in Vijayawada on Saturday.
VIJAYAWADA: Speakers at a seminar on "Investment climate in India: Changing scenario" organised by the PG department of commerce & business administration of P.B. Siddhartha College of Arts & Science on Saturday called upon students to take advantage of a number of opportunities knocking at their doors in the wake of economic reforms. They expressed concern over coalition politics pulling India's policies in different directions creating confusion in investors' minds. But the speakers underlined that the country's economy had undergone a sea change and it was for the good of the country.
Political stability
Vice-Chancellor of Acharya Nagarjuna University V. Bala Mohan Das said that the situation would have been far better had there been political stability. He was more critical of the bureaucrats saying that they were not changing with times though the politicians looked flexible to some extent. He felt that there should be consensus on the economic policies in additional to the political alliances. C. Parthya Sarathy, chairman and managing director, Karvy Consultants Limited, delivered the keynote address. He pointed out that reforms and investment climate had given rise to a "world of opportunities" for the new generation. "There is a phenomenal growth in career opportunities. It was never witnessed in India before. The country is on the threshold of moving up," Mr. Sarathy said. Secretary of Siddhartha Academy of General & Technical Education P.L.N. Prasad presided over the seminar. L. Anuradha, head of the PG department of commerce and business administration spoke.
