Sekar scalps six

TIRUCHI: M. Sekar's six for 9 helped National College secure win over O.F.T Sports Association by 118 runs in the Third division Tiruchi DCA-Indian Bank league match here recently.

The scores: Second Division: Campion HSS CC 101 bt Zephyrs CC 67 (Balachandar four for 21).

Golden Chariot CC `A' 62 lost to Urumu Dhanalakshmi College 63 for three.

Third Division: Associated CC 247 for eight (R. Satish 79, Selva 40, J. Satish Kumar 40) bt Galaxy CC 177 for five (Sridhar 40, Muthamil Selvan 51).

Golden Chariot CC `B' 112 (Jayaprakash six for 18) lost to Breeze CC 113 for seven (Senthil 41, N. Rajasekar four for 17).

National College 172 (Kuppusamy 50, Udaya Kumar four for 45) bt O.F.T Sports Association 54 (M. Sekar six for 9).

Fourth Division: Pudukkottai R.C 166 for four (Dhanasekar 63) bt Warriors Avenue CC 112 (Franklin Kumar 41, Vishnu Kumar four for 23).

Manachanallur Jr CC `B' 150 for five (Balaji 41) bt Manapparai CC 108.

Fifth Division: Rainbow CC 99 (Muthuvel 44, Deepak four for 30) lost to Desert Rose CC 100 for eight (T.R. Padmanabhan five for 16).

Young Sobers CC 146 for nine (Nelson 47) bt TVSRC 93 (Sakthi four for 21).

Vinay posts win

Vinay Kothari (SVS) defeated Karthic Raj (TNBSA) 78-35, 64-33 in the junior snooker event of the Tamil Nadu State-ranking tournament at TNBSA in Chennai.

TNSP keeps trophy

Tamil Nadu Special Police, Chennai, retained the Saratha Trophy defeating Hockey Special Coaching Centre, Palayamkottai, 4-1, via tie-breaker in the final of the fourth annual state-level hockey tournament in Tirunelveli on Saturday.

At the end of the regulation time, the teams were locked goalless.

In the tie-breaker, Palanivelnathan, Paratheep, Krishnakumar and Parthiban scored for Police and Udaya Vimalan only succeeded for the local team.

Earlier in the semifinals, Tamil Nadu Special Police beat Thirunagar Hockey Club, Madurai 2-0, while Hockey Special Coaching Centre prevailed over Nethaji Sports Club, Kovilpatti 5-3 via tie-breaker.
