Many a herbal solution to enhance face value

Cosmetologist Hema Lakshman is a much sought-after person in Kollywood and Bollywood. One who only uses herbal beauty care products, Ms. Lakshman talks to S.R. Ashok Kumar about her experience and her list of VVIP customers.

Born into a traditional family, Hema Lakshman had to undergo many struggles before she made a career in radio engineering on her own.

Ms. Lakshman has a flair for creativity and beautifying things (started with home, garden, interiors and cookery).

At an early age, she tried several treatments to get rid of pimples on the face, but none proved effective. She then tried different herbal combinations.

Ms. Lakshman also did a number of courses in cosmetology.

"After having done a professional courses in cosmetology and research on the use of herbs, I started Jana herbal health and beauty care products and a special studio to work on my clients in the city. I always prefer to give personal care to each of my clients, who include famous film personalities, bureaucrats and other celebrities. I give individual attention to each one of them. My main services include pedicure, manicure, herbal hair oil massage, facials, hair styling, latest bridal dressing and make up, henna treatment and so on. I offer a variety of assistance to overcome problems such as dark circles around the eye, acne, pimples, rashes, pigmentation, premature aging, scars, dandruff, hair damage, hair loss and so on."

Can herbal products make a big change? Hema Lakshman says: "I have a wide range of products such as herbal oil, herbal bleach, aroma body pack, and combinations from saffron and sandalwood. I give these to my clients all around the world." She has started selling her products in Singapore. "I started it in early 2000 and it is going on really well."

Her star customers include from Manorama to the latest in the Tamil television personalities.
