CHENNAI: Friday's deep depression which lay about 50 km southeast of Ongole crossed coast close to Ongole at 1330 hours IST of 28th October 2005 and now lies at 0830 hours IST as depression 50 km west of Ongole. Under its influence Northeast Monsoon has been vigorous over Rayalaseema and active over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, at many places over Rayalaseema and at a few places over Telangana and coastal Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, north and south interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep. The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimeters: Kalwakurthy (Mahabubnagar dt.) 17, Porumamilla (Cuddapah dt.) 13, Nagar Kurnool (Mahabubnagar dt.) 10, Kavali and Hyderabad Airport 8 each, Vishakapatnam and Alagadda (Kurnool dt.) 7 each. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Kurnool, Proddathur (Cuddapah dt.) and Vishakapatnam 6 each, Pargi (Rengareddy dt.) 5.

FORECAST (valid until Monday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Telangana, north interior Karnataka, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at a few places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Kerala, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur over Rayalaseema, Telangana and north interior Karnataka during next 48 hours. Isolated heavy rain is also likely to occur over south coastal Andhra Pradesh during the same period.
