Kalam condemns blasts

NEW DELHI: President Abdul Kalam has condemned the serial blasts that rocked the capital on Saturday evening and condoled the loss of lives in the explosions. "Dr Kalam has appealed to the people to maintain calm and help in relief and rescue operations,'' S. M. Khan, Press Adviser to the President said.

The President spoke to Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and took stock of the relief work being undertaken by the authorities.

Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat also expressed his grief and concern over the bomb blasts.

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee condemned the blast and appealed to the people to remain calm and united in this hour of crisis.
