North beats Zimbabwe

Mumbai: Spinners Amit Mishra and Sarandeep Singh spun out Zimbabwe President's XI for 257 runs in the second innings as North Zone notched up an innings and a seven-run victory over the visitors inside three days in their Duleep Trophy league tie here on Saturday.

Leg-spinner Mishra bagged four for 74 and off-spinner Sarandeep Singh grabbed three for 79 as Zimbabwe XI, resuming at the overnight score of 50 for one after having conceded a 264-run first innings lead, was dismissed 19 minutes before tea on the penultimate day.

The highlight of the Zimbabwe XI's second innings was a blistering knock of 73 by lower-order batsman Charles Coventry (90 balls, 10X4), which kept the team in the fight after the collapse of top order. North got a bonus point for the win and ended its engagements in the three-team league with five points.
