ANANTAPUR: Timely action of the driver of Guntakal-Pakala passenger train (metre gauge) averted a possible accident between Malakavemula and Patnam stations in the district on Saturday afternoon. According to railway officials, the driver applied emergency brakes after experiencing an abnormal jerk. When he got down and examined the tracks, he was shocked to see that 14 keys, which hold fish plates and the rails together, were removed. He explained the situation to higher officials.
