The Legend of Zorro (English)
Cast: Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rufus Sewell, Adrian Alonso
Director: Martin Campbell Adults who make the trip to see The Legend of Zorro would be well advised to do two things before they enter a theatre. Embed their tongue firmly in cheek and take a hefty pinch of salt. That way, they will be spared any disappointment. Younger audiences need no such precaution: Director Martin Campbell (who also directed the first Zorro film seven years ago) has cannily thrown in a youthful character they can relate too: Joaquin aka Junior Zorro (Adrian Alonso) who has some nice comic moments of his own. Don Alejandro (Banderas) and Elena (Zeta-Jones) are how man and wife; but the Don's crusading zeal to assume his Zorro `avatar' and ensure that California joins the United States inspite of the efforts of some robber barons, sorely tests the marriage. Elena wants to end it and seems to find consolation in a former school mate and aristocrat Armand (Sewell). Bad decision: he is one of the baddies intent on blowing up California.
