Set up IT Park in Madurai: Madittsia

MADURAI: The Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association has urged the Union Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, to initiate appropriate measures to establish an Information Technology Park here, on the lines of the Tidel Park in Chennai.

In a memorandum submitted to the Minister on Tuesday here, the association president, S. Aravind, said the Minister should prevail upon Nokia company to set up ancillary units in Madurai or any of the southern districts. He urged the Minister to use his good offices and pave way for the development of Madurai airport into an international terminal.

The Maditssia thanked Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for her announcement on promoting beach tourism in Rameswaram and Mandapam. It said Madurai, which was located nearby, could play a vital role in enhancing tourism promotion activities in those areas. Mr. Aravind said the Chief Minister should strive for the expansion of Madurai airport into an international terminal.
