HYDERABAD: `Mangal hi Mangal', `Kheeche chale aao', `Pehla Kamaal, Dosra Dhamal' are not new Bollywood films releasing this festive season. These are `sure shot gifts' offers by electronic goods companies to bring in a `Whirlpool' of buying activity.
Sales graph
And sure enough, the sales graph is rocketing, market sizes increasing, and as the Deputy General Manager of Tirumala Music Centre, K. Kameswara Rao puts in: customers are finding free gifts `shubha soochakam', a sign of good times for the new year. "They are offering some scheme so I thought it is better to buy here, I can get some extra benefit," says a shopper at TMC. She is not alone, daily 450 to 500 customers are getting hooked to the Golden Geese and Golden egg offer which means on every Rs. 1000 worth of purchase, you could win one kilo of gold or the golden egg, worth Rs. 6.5 lakhs. Though there are only five golden eggs to be won, every purchase could mean a free gift or a cash price ranging from Rs. 250 to Rs. 50,000. If you thought the Golden egg was big, check this out. If you can shell Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 1,20,000 for an LG Dios Fridge, you could drive away a Mercedes Benz priced at Rs. 25,83,791. "More than 70 customers have already bought," says Mr. Rao.
Market share
And the results look win-win for all. While buyers are happy with two and three in won bonanzas, companies are lapping up the sales. Panasonic has seen 30 per cent increase in sales by extending the warranty period of its television sets from one year to two years. Hyundai pe Hyundai offer on at the exclusive Hyundai showroom that has four Elantra Cars in the lucky draw has seen 10 per cent increase in the market share of Televisons, says Abdul Bari, Branch Manager.
