HYDERABAD: Several credit card payment defaulters of Andhra Bank, who appeared for a one-time settlement at the Lok Adalat in City Civil Court on Saturday, complained of no clarity in the manner by which the Bank had arrived at the repayable sum. "My client has used only 17,000 out of the Rs. 20,000 limit of card till November 2004, now the bank is demanding a sum of Rs. 27, 286 in October 2005, how did it arrive at these figures?" asked a lawyer representing his client. "The bank's approach is not pro-customer, at least they should give the statements," said one defaulter. Another couple said they had repaid Rs. 15,000 after using Rs. 30,000 of the credit limit, but the bank had demanded Rs. 47,000 and it was now ready to settle for Rs. 42,000. They complained that they were not given any break up in a statement. DGM of Andhra Bank Atma Ram denied these charges, saying these are contract payments which the cardholders are aware of.
