`Cradle facility denied on flight'

NEDUMBASSERY: A complaint has been lodged against a Gulf-based airline alleging that the mother of a three-month-old baby was denied a seat in the aircraft with cradle facility after initially being allotted the seat.

M. I. Francis, Ernakulam Deputy Collector (RR) whose daughter took the flight from the Nedumbassery airport to Doha on Thursday lodged the complaint with the Customer service manager of the airline at its headquarters in the Gulf.

According to the petitioner his daughter was initially allotted the seat with the cradle facility but was asked to vacate by a crewmember to accommodate someone else.

He alleged that due to this, his daughter, who was on her way to Vienna to visit her husband along with their three-month-old baby, had to suffer a difficult journey.

A senior official of the airline at the airport said that usually such an incident never happens on board the aircraft and said a report also mentioning the name of the accused crewmember had been sent to the airline headquarters.
