Software company employee robbed

BANGALORE: Three men waylaid an employee of a software firm in Indiranagar police station limits and robbed him of Rs. 1,200 in cash and a mobile phone on Friday.

The victim, along with a passer-by, chased and caught one of the robbers.

The police said that around 8 p.m., three men waylaid Ramesh, an employee of a software firm at Domlur, while he was walking on the Domlur Main Road. They assaulted him and robbed him of the cash and the mobile phone.

Ramesh, along with Jayakumar, who was riding a motorcycle, chased the three men.

While trying to escape, the three jumped over a compound and one of them fell down.

Ramesh and Jayakumar caught him and handed him over to the police.

He was identified as Francis of Viveknagar, the police said.

The Indiranagar police have registered a case.

Explosion

The canteen at the Bangalore Development Authority office on Sankey Road was damaged in an explosion caused by a LPG leak on Friday night. However, no one was injured in the incident, the police said.

Suicide

Satheeshan (32), a havaldar, committed suicide by hanging himself at the MEG and Centre dormitory at M.S. Nagar on Friday. The police said Satheeshan had hanged himself from the ceiling in the dormitory toilet.

Scooters recovered

The Commercial Street police arrested two youths on charges of theft and recovered from them two scooters and two mobile phones. Their names were given as Siddique Ahmed (20) of Devarajeevanahalli and Amjad Pasha (22) of Shivajinagar.
