BANGALORE: The driver of a multi-utility vehicle, in which Citibank officials were carrying cash, escaped with Rs. 90 lakhs after the officials had got down from the vehicle near International Technology Park Ltd. (ITPL) on Saturday. The police said two Citibank officials took Rs. 95 lakhs from their office on Mahatma Gandhi Road and left in a hired multi-utility vehicle to load cash into their automated teller machines (ATMs). After loading Rs. 5 lakhs at an ATM, they went to the ITPL. They got down at the ITPL Gate, leaving the cash in the vehicle, and went to the ATM. The driver sped away along with Rs. 90 lakhs that was in the vehicle, the police said. On a complaint by Kalidas, custodian of the cash, the Whitefield police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the driver. As the driver was a known person, it was only a question of time before he was arrested, the police said.
