BELLARY: Arvind Srivastav, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, has issued a draft notification to ban movement of mine lorries with in the city limits between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. The National Highway 63 passes through the heart of the city and the movement of mine lorries, along with the regular vehicular traffic, causes a lot of pollution, apart from causing traffic hazards. The Superintendent of Police, who had made a proposal in this regard, had said that the number of accidents caused by the movement of mines lorries was more. In the absence of an alternate route, he said that the movement of lorries should be banned during the day. In response to the proposal, Mr. Srivastav decided to ban the movement of mine lorries. The public can file their objections or suggestions in this regard at his office either in person or in writing by November 10, the notification said.
