VIJAYAWADA: Adilabad's Siva scored off a penalty to give his team victory in a thrilling final against Guntur in the senior inter-district football tournament, which concluded at Alluri Seetarama Raju at Eluru. The teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation time and 3-3 in the shoot-out. In sudden-death, Siva converted while V. Srinivasa Rao missed. In the semifinals, Adilabad defeated Kurnool 3-0 and Guntur, in a keenly fought encounter, defeated host West Godavari 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out.
Vamsidhar is president
The Andhra Pradesh State Twenty-Twenty Cricket Association, in its general body meeting, elected a new panel with Vamsidhar of Tirupati elected president and Ambati Sukumar as the general secretary. The other office-bearers are: Rajanala Srihari (Warangal), vice-president: V. Venkateswara Rao (West Godavari), organising secy. and treasurer Y. Suresh Babu (Krishna). Vamsidhar said 14 districts are affiliated to the AP State Twenty-Twenty Cricket Association. The meeting also resolved to conduct the inter-district Twenty20 tournament here under the auspices of the Krishna District Twenty-Twenty Cricket Association in December. Warangal will host the senior National meet.
