Competitions held to create awareness among students about tourism

Udhagamandalam: College and school students who had excelled in a quiz competition organised by the Department of Tourism here recently were given prizes by the Nilgiris Collector, C. Vijayaraj Kumar, and the Additional Collector, S. J. Chiru, here on Monday.

The event had been organised to create awareness among the students about tourism and its relevance to the development of the Nilgiris. In the competition for college students, the team from Government Polytechnic College, Udhagamandalam emerged victorious. It was followed by a team comprising first year B.A. Tourism students from Government Arts College, Udhagamandalam and a team formed by the third year B.A. Tourism students from the same college. In the competition for school students the first prize went to Government Higher Secondary School, Udhagamandalam. While the Church of South India CMM High School, Udhagamandalam bagged the second prize, St. Theresa's High School, Udhagamandalam, was awarded the third prize.
