Dividend cheque presented

SHIMLA: The Managing Director of Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited, H.K. Sharma, presented a cheque for Rs 27.25 crores to Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here on Monday.

The public sector SJVN has so far paid a dividend of Rs 35.40 crores to the State Government for its operations for the year 2004-05. An interim dividend of Rs 8.14 crores had already been paid by the company, informed Mr. Vijay Verma, Deputy General Manager of SJVN.

From its full year's commercial operation this year the company has posted a net profit of Rs 298.43 crores on a turnover of Rs 1098.28 crores. The company has declared a maiden divided of Rs 143.16 crores for the year 2004-05 to be shared by the equity partners Government of India and the state government here in a ratio of 3:1, said the spokesman.

The company's flagship venture 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Project had commenced commercial operations in October 2003and been supplying power to the Northern Grid beneficiary states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu Kashmir and Chandigarh.

During this year the project had generated 5108 million of electricity, claimed the spokesman.

The SJVN is executing some major projects in Himachal and Uttranchal.
