dated November 3, 1955: New PMG office building

A three-storey building in the heart of Mount Road is to be constructed to house the office of the Postmaster-General and subordinate offices in Madras. The building will also accommodate the Mount Road Post Office. Construction of the building has commenced on a plot of about an acre in extent, familiarly known as Taylors Yard, adjacent to the present Mount Road Post Office. Expected to cost about Rs.17 lakhs the building is to be completed by about the beginning of 1957.
