Isolated heavy rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu.

Rainfall occurred at many places over Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.

Isolated rainfall occurred over Telangana and Kerala.

Dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimeters:

Sira (Tumkur dt.) 12, Annigeri (Dharwad dt.) 11, Vallam (Thanjavur dt.) 10, Keeranur (Pudukottai dt.) 9, Chengam (Tiruvannamalai dt.) and Kannur 8 each and Pudukottai, Hosur (Krishnagiri dt.), Tiruchengode (Namakkal dt.), Valapady (Salem dt.), Perundurai (Erode dt.) and Karaikudi (Sivagangai dt.) 7 each.

The minimum temperature were appreciably and markedly fell at most places over Telangana, at one or two places over Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra Pradesh, fell at a few places over rest coastal Andhra Pradesh, at one or two places over Tamil Nadu and changed little elsewhere over the region.

FORECAST (valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal and north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Telangana.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry during next 48 hours.
