The uncertainty over the availability of the stadium and the power supply for the floodlights had given a few headaches to the organisers.
Not only have they have been able to ensure the availability of the stadium continuously for six days, the KSEB has also agreed to supply uninterrupted power.
Fourteen teams drawn in clusters II, III, V and VIII will play 18 matches, six of them under lights.
The teams which will be seen in action are 29-time winner Bengal, Delhi, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the TDFA president C.P. John said that the sale of tickets had picked up and there was a lot of demand for special passes to the students being sold at a reduced rate of Rs. 30.
A cultural programme by students of various institutions and a mass drill by the athletes will be part of the inaugural ceremony on Friday.
The Kerala Finance Minister, Vakkom Purushothaman, will inaugurate the tournament, which returns to the State capital after a long gap of 52 years. Sports Reporter
