Digvijay's tips to Uma to topple Babulal Gaur

``No political party can effect a leadership change under pressure''

  • `You have alienated the RSS, VHP and the BJP by your conduct'
  • Digvijay Singh said he could tender advice to her only as an elder brother

NEW DELHI: AICC General Secretary, incharge of Bihar, Digvijay Singh has advised former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti not to indulge in show of her strength with the help of her supporting MLAs in the State but to keep mum for some days.

``Whether you accept it or not, the more you are demonstrating the strength of your supporting MLAs, the more you are strengthening the position of Mr Babu Lal Gaur as Chief Minister,'' he said in a letter addressed to Ms Bharti.'' You have alienated the RSS, VHP and the BJP by your conduct, letters and by your statements.''

``No political party can effect a leadership change under pressure, but if it does so there would always remain political instability'', Mr Singh said.

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister suggested to Ms Bharti to keep silent for some days, expose the wrong deeds of the BJP rule and to get fulfilled the promises made to the people which the BJP Government was unable to fulfil.'' Only thereby you can get the leadership changed in the State.''

Pointing out that he had the experience of being the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for as long as 10 years, Mr Singh said if she considered him worthy enough, she could go by his advice.'' I am at the moment leisurely, and therefore can offer you free consultancy to topple Mr Gaur from Chief Ministership. Whether you accept it or not, depends on you.''

Stating that she had always regarded him as her elder brother whom she had known from the days when she was only eight years old, he said he could tender advice to her only as an elder brother. Now it was up to her to accept the advice or not.

Having a dig at Ms Bharti, the former Chief Minister said she should herself ponder as to whether the BJP could not have offered her Chief Ministership again after she had obtained bail in a case.'' The BJP will never make you the Chief Minister again as the way your own family organisation RSS caused havoc in your nine-month-long rule has no parallel.''

He recalled that her own senior partymen had circulated to the Press a list of people close to her and her family members who had pocketed money in getting posted District Collectors and Superintendents of Police.'' You had not contradicted the report even.''- UNI
