Sheila reviews relief efforts

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday reviewed the relief efforts for victims of the serial bomb blasts in the Capital this past weekend.

She directed all the Ministers and MLAs to visit the victims and their families in their respective areas to enquire about the relief disbursed to them and to also find out if they were facing any difficulties in getting treatment in hospitals.

New COO of NDPL

NEW DELHI: North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) on Wednesday appointed Arup Ghosh as its Chief Operating Officer.

He took over from Anil Sardana, who has been promoted Managing Director of NDPL.

Mr. Ghosh will act as the functional head of Operations, Commercial, Technical Services, Projects and IT Departments of the private power distribution company.

He will also be responsible for interface with various government bodies, statutory agencies, regulatory commission and other stakeholders on all technical and operational matters.

His last assignment was with the Mauritius Central Electricity Board where he was responsible for their transmission and distribution arm.

CRY quiz concludes

NEW DELHI: An inter-corporate quiz, "Maruti Suzuki FACT 2005", organised by Child Relief and You (CRY) ended here this past weekend.

The quiz, which saw participation of Infosys, Deloitte Consulting, Blow Plast Limited, HSBC, Mahindra British Telecom and Indian Express, was conducted by TV quiz show host Derek O' Brien.

Indian Express emerged the winner of the quiz in which all the teams echoed the belief that every child has a basic right to survive, to live well and be educated.

Students visit Thailand

NEW DELHI: A group of 23 students and four teachers from Princess Mother School in Thailand took part in a two-week-long cultural and educational programme organised by Col.

Satsangi Kiran Memorial Public School at Chhattarpur from October 19 to 30.

The students attended seminars, workshops and presented a cultural programme besides visiting Qutub Minar, Gandhi Smriti, Lotus Temple, Red Fort and many other places of tourist interest.

Handloom store opened

NEW DELHI: The Jammu and Kashmir State Handloom Development Corporation launched its new store, ``Poshish'', at Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi on Tuesday.

Planned at two levels, it offers a hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-embroidered range of products.

The material includes finest quality Kashmiri shawls woven on handlooms in a variety of textures, colours, weave patterns and compositions both in traditional and non-traditional designs. There is a special collection of hand-woven tweeds of finer quality and lighter weight.
