MACHILIPATNAM: Municipal Administration Minister Koneru Ranga Rao hoisted national flag at police parade grounds here on Tuesday in connection with the Andhra Pradesh Formation Day. He took salute on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Koneru Ranga Rao announced that the Government has decided to provide Rs. 1,270 crores as crop loans for farmers in Krishna District during this financial year. He released `Government Logo' on the eve of Golden jubilee celebrations of State formation day. The State Government would provide Rs. 100 crores linkage loans to SHGs in Krishna district, he said and added that Government has constituted the Information Act to provide information to public on Government activities.
Tourism promotion
Mr. Koneru Ranga Rao said that Government had provided Rs. 4 crores and improved cultural activities and tourism spots at Kondapalli - Kondapalli Khilla and Hamsaladevi (Sagara Sangamam) (in Diviseema) of Krishna District. To provide a fillip to tourism, Manginipudi beach festivals would be arranged in Krishna District in January 2006. He said that Rs. 14 crores was provided under Indira Kranthi Scheme covering 58,000 beneficiaries of 700 SHGS in Krishna District.
Welfare schemes
He said that Rs.40 lakhs was provided to 6,600 poor people under various welfare schemes. He further added that 76 boats were given to tsunami-affected fishermen. He said that financial assistance was provided to 1,500 beneficiaries by spending Rs.1 crore by Minority Corporation of Krishna District. He said that Aathmeeyudu, a new scheme, would be introduced soon to cover children of weaker sections. He said that computer training was arranged in 45 schools in Krishna district. The Minister said that compensation would be provided to the affected families, whose lands were damaged in recent heavy rain, to a tune of Rs.110 crores. He said that Rs. 20 crores was sanctioned to Bapulapadu - Tiruvuru - Gannavaram Nandigama Mullapadu and Mylavaram under protected water supply schemes.
