Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Over 29 cases of gastroenteritis were treated at the Isolation Hospital on Wednesday.

More than six cases came from Bomanahalli and three cases from T.G. Halli area.

C.R. Thyagaraja, Director of Isolation Hospital, says the hospital has been receiving a large number of cases for the past few days.

"Earlier, we used to get 8 to 10 cases but we get 15 to 20 cases every day now," he says.

He says a lot of cases are coming from the outskirts of the city. "We are getting cases referred from Hoskote and Kargodi," he said.

Officials at the health centres in the city municipal council and Bangalore Mahangara Palike areas reported a rise in the number of gastroenteritis cases. Over 20 persons from Puttenahalli health centre were treated for gastroenteritis cases on Tuesday evening. The BMP health officer Tandav Murthy denied any increase in cases of gastroenteritis in health centres in BMP wards.
