Irrigation Minister's directive to officials

HYDERABAD:
Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Laxmaiah has directed irrigation and Transco officials to complete electrification of lift irrigation schemes by March next and ensure that water is released to the new ayacut in June.
The Minister on Wednesday reviewed the progress of electrification works of Devadula, Guthpa, Alisagar, Tatipudi and Pushakaram lift irrigation schemes. He said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy instructed that the eight LI schemes be completed so that new ayacut could be brought under cultivation.
Mr. Laxmaiah wanted Transco authorities to complete the works in a fixed time frame. He expressed satisfaction at the progress of works with regard to laying of pipelines, installation of pumping machines and motors and hoped that the trial runs would be completed by March-end. The meeting was attended by Irrigation Secretary Satish Chandra, Chief Engineer Prabhakar Reddy, Transco Director (Project Constructions) J.V. Pandurangam, Chief Engineer M. Gopal Rao and Superintending Engineer B. Umakar Rao.
