dated November 4, 1955: AIR station for Bangalore

The 50 kw medium wave Bangalore station of All India Radio went on the air on November 2. The Rajpramukh of Mysore, speaking on the occasion, thanked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for having opened a radio station at Bangalore and said it "is a tribute to Dr. Keskar's vision and foresight." He referred to the part played by the radio in national life and observed that a whole new world had been opened for the village dwellers by it. The function was held at a specially erected pandal at Cubbon House. There was a programme of music, which included violin duet by T. Chowdiah and T. Gururajappa, vocal music by Gangubai Hangal and a veena recital. Mr. K.V. Puttappa and Mr. Masti Venkatesa Iyengar, Kannada scholars, rendered a few poems.
