Leaders mourn death of Tanga

Staff Correspondent

Bidar: Many leaders have expressed grief over the death of MLC and retired professor of oncology M.R. Tanga.

He was an immensely talented parliamentarian and the voice of the Hyderabad Karnataka region in the Legislative Council, Quazi Arshad Ali, MLC, said of the leader.

He was an honest politician with an unblemished character despite being in public life for over four decades, Mr. Ali said.

The former Minister Bheemanna Khandre recalled his long association with Dr. Tanga.

He was an exceptional politician and a doctor loved by his patients. It is sad that his death has darkened our festival of lights, Mr. Khandre said.

S.S. Narasanagi, senior surgeon and a colleague of Dr. Tanga at Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College described him as a teacher who made the most complex subjects appear simple. He was known for spartan living and high standards in public life, he said.

Others who mourned Dr. Tanga's death were Prayavi hospital managing director Amar Yerolkar, former BJP district unit president Subhash Guttedar, and office-bearers of the Indian Medical Association.
