New Postal Secretary

CHENNAI: U. Srinivasaraghavan, who was hitherto the Member (Operations and Marketing) in the Postal Board, has taken over as the Postal Secretary.

A doctorate in Economics, Dr. Srinivasaraghavan belongs to the 1969 batch of Indian Postal Service. He held various positions in the department including the chief of the Jammu and Kashmir (2000-2001) and Tamil Nadu (2001-2004) circles.

He was involved in the launch of Speed Post in the mid-1980s. When he headed the Tamil Nadu Circle, the concept of finance mart, the post offices functioning as counsellors in financial investments, was introduced.
