Seven villages vie for Nirmal award

Officials directed to complete sanitation works on a war-footing


  • Selected village will receive Rs. 2 lakh cash award from the President
  • Competing villages will be given an amount of Rs. 30,000 each

    Sangareddy: Seven villages in Medak district have been identified for the Nirmal Gram Puraskar award given for clean villages.

    According to a press release issued here, Collector B. Venkatesam discussed the modalities of the award in a meeting with the village and mandal level-officers.

    Dumping facility

    The Collector told the officers to complete all sanitation works on war footing as no village in the State has ever received this award. All the seven-competing villages would be given an amount of Rs. 30,000 each for the purchase of dustbins, and rickshaws to carry the garbage to the common dumping facility.

    Topugonda of Sangareddy mandal, Anantasagar in Chinnkodur mandal, Avusulapalli in Medak mandal, Arepalli of Dubbaka mandal, Rangadhampalli and Pedalingareddypalli of Siddipet mandal, Alirajpet in Jagdevpur mandal have been selected for the competition to be held in December.

    The selected village would receive Rs. 2 lakh cash award from the president India at a ceremony to be held in New Delhi. Joint collector Vani Mohan, DRDA project director J. Murali, ZP CEO Chennaiah and others participated in the meeting.
