Woman killed in accident

CHENNAI : A 35-year old woman died and her husband suffered serious injuries in a road accident on the Ring Road in Retteri, on the outskirts of the city, on Wednesday evening.

According to police, Sampath (45), working in Carriage Works, Perambur, was travelling with his wife Pushpalatha on a two-wheeler when it collided with a lorry coming in the opposite direction. The couple suffered serious injuries and were brought to the railway hospital, Perambur, where Pushpalatha was declared dead. The condition of Sampath is said to be serious.

The lorry driver surrendered at the Madhavaram police station.
