New Delhi: In a pro-active step, Delhi government on Wednesday announced the setting up of a special cell to help victims of Saturday's serial blasts invest their money profitably.

In an emergency meeting of the Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, it was decided for the first time ever to set up a special cell headed by Divisional Commissioner G.K. Marwah to help the victims invest the compensation in profitable ventures. The cell would include chartered accountants and financial analysts. Delhi Govt. had announced ex-gratia Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those killed in Saturday's bomb blasts. Ex-gratia amount for minors was put at Rs 1 lakh. The Centre had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh, taking the total to Rs 4 lakhs. The state government also decided to give Rs 1 lakh to those permanently disabled. Such persons were also to be supplied artificial limbs at State's costs. Those seriously injured would be given Rs 50,000 and those with minor injuries would be given Rs 5,000.
