BANGALORE: `India Organic-2005,' a four-day national meet on organic farming to bring all stake holders in the field on a single platform and to thrash out modalities to provide a good market for organic farming products at the national and international level, will begin here on Friday. The trade fair is jointly organised by the International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture, Bangalore, Government of Karnataka and the Agricultural Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, a Union Government undertaking. Speaking to presspersons on Thursday, Minister for Horticulture R. Srinivas said the country with its abundant natural resources had a rich potential to capture a sizable share in the world market for organic farm products. The International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement, Germany, has extended its support to the fair. Federation President Gerald Herrmann was present at the press meet. The Swiss Ambassador to India Dominique Dreyer would speak at the opening ceremony. Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar will inaugurate the event. Over 500 traders from the country and 30 from abroad would take part in the fair that would be held at the Glass House of Lalbagh. The fair would also feature 12 seminars and a workshop on organic farming.
