Course on Business Law and Management

CHENNAI: The Small Industries Service Institute is launching a new course on Business Law and Management from December. Graduates are eligible to apply for the one- year course that is offered through both weekend classes and online stream. A fee waiver of 50 per cent is available for women candidates.

ENT surgeons to be honoured

Two eminent ENT surgeons from Chennai, G.V. Ramani and S.Kameswaran, will be honoured by President A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, on Friday at a meeting convened by Cochlear Implant Group of India in New Delhi.

The meeting was organised under the presidency of Mohan Kameswaran, director of Madras ENT Research Foundation.

Expert for Renewable Energy meet

A. Jagadeesh, head of Centre for Energy and Sustainable Resource, R.M.K. Engineering College and wind energy expert has been invited for the two-day Beijing International Renewable Energy Conference 2005 from November 7.

He will participate in the forum on South-South Co-operation held as part of the conference organised jointly by the Chinese Wind Energy Association and GTZ from Germany.

Purandaradasar's kritis featured

The contribution of Purandaradasar to Carnatic music was featured at the Carnatic music festival organised by Pithamaha Sri Purandara Dasara Sangeetha Sabha last week.

Several compositions of Purandaradasar were featured at the festival.

Benefit fund releases payment

Alwarpet Benefit Fund limited has started releasing cheques for the 6th instalment payment of 5 per cent of the principal amount of the deposits from October 29 according to the membership number of the depositors.

For saving and recurring deposit holders, the cheques are valid up to November 25 and for fixed deposit holders, up to December 9.

Staff nurse

gets award

A staff nurse, Devadatha, of Dean Foundation Hospice and Palliative Care Centre was honoured with vocational service award by the Rotary Club of Anna Nagar, recognising her commitment and dedication.

The foundation hand-delivered sweets to patients at their home as part of Deepavali celebrations.

The seven-year-old hospice has taken care of 829 patients so far, said a release.
