FIFTEEN YEARS ago, A.S. Murthy, a playwright, was hosting a show on All India Radio, Bangalore, and airing people's problems. As part of a rural programme aired every evening, Mr. Murthy, a former AIR employee, used to narrate problems in the common man's language under the name of Eranna. AIR, Bangalore, which is celebrating 50 years, has again started airing this popular programme every week on Wednesdays at 7.25 a.m. Seventy-seven-year-old Mr. Murthy has hosted four programmes. The first was an interaction with Mr. Murthy and his character Eranna. The other programmes were on problems in old-age homes and on motherhood. The one that will be aired on November 9 will be a special focusing on M.D. Pallavi, a young singer, who is also the granddaughter of Mr. Murthy. In the show, Eranna interacts with her and talks about the way she developed as a singer.
