Cuba solidarity meet in Chennai

CHENNAI:
A reception committee has been formed for hosting the third international Cuba Solidarity Conference of the Asia Pacific Region in the city on January 20 and 21, 2006.
About 50 foreign delegates from about 15 countries in the Asia- Pacific region and about 125 delegates from India will take part in the conference. The delegates' session, which opens on January 20, will finalise the conference declaration. On January 21, a public reception will be organised at Raja Annamalai Hall, Esplanade.
A meeting chaired by Vijayaraghavan M.P., convener, held here on November 2 and attended by CPI (M) Central Committee members M.A.Baby and T.K.Rangarajan; CITU secretary W.R.Varadarajan; CPI (M) State secretary N.Varadarajan; CPI (M) State secretariat member G. Ramakrishnan and CPI State Executive Member Rajmohan decided to approach leaders of like-minded political parties in the State to request them to associate with the conference as patrons. The Hindu Editor-in-Chief N.Ram will be the chairman of the reception committee, Mr. Ramakrishnan and Mr. Rajmohan joint conveners and A. Arumuga Nainar the treasurer.
