Over 4 lakh people affected by rain

BANGALORE: About 4.4 lakh people have been affected by torrential rain in Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Mandya, Tumkur and Chamarajanagar districts.

According to the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare Services, Basavaraju, 3,150 people were treated in health centres. Forty-three patients were sent to hospitals, he added.

Mr. Basavaraju said that the department officials have visited over 40,000 places and have taken measures to prevent spreading of epidemics.

Over one lakh tablets have been given to the patients, he said.
