Amrita Pritam

The passing away of Amrita Pritam has created a void in the Indian literary scene. She portrayed the human condition from a feminist viewpoint through her novels, short stories and poems.

Her poignant portrayal of the travails of the woman protagonist in the novel Pinjar (The Skeleton) is a narrative par excellence. It offers an insight into the dehumanised social mores, which work against women.
