Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday issued notice to the Director-General of Police (DGP), an Inspector-General (IG) of Police and five other police personnel in a case relating to the custodial death of a youth at the Fort police station in the State capital recently and directed the Government to file a report by November 10. Justice K. Thankappan issued the direction while admitting a petition filed by Prabhavati Amma, mother of the deceased Udayakumar, seeking Rs.25 lakhs as compensation for her son's death. The Court issued notices to DGP Raman Srivastava, IG (Crime Branch) Mahesh Kumar Singala, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) of Police Nitin Aggarwal, a sub-inspector and three police constables. Udayakumar was allegedly tortured to death at the Fort police station last month. PTI
