Panchayat polls: BSP to go it alone

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: The Bahujan Samaj Party has decided to go it alone in the elections to the zilla and taluk panchayats scheduled to be held in December. The party will release the final list of candidates for the elections in Gulbarga district on November 27.

Disclosing this to presspersons here on Saturday, Suryakant Nimbalkar, president of the party's district unit, said the party had, however, held discussions with leaders of the Janata Dal (Secular) faction led by Siddaramaiah. But no agreement could be reached on seat-sharing or having an alliance to fight the zilla and taluk panchayat elections, he added.

He said the party has also decided not to have any truck with the Janata Dal (United) in the State owing to its ties with the BJP at the all-India level.
