ISLAMABAD: At least eight persons were reported killed when a bomb they were making exploded in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan bordering Afghanistan. Director-General of Inter Services Public Relations Shaukat Sultan said on Saturday the victims were busy making an improvised explosive device for "terrorist activity" when blast occurred at a residence of a local tribe man. He said six persons were killed on the spot. Local television channels put the figure at eight. The deceased included a woman, three girls and four men. The private television channels said the locals gave shelter to some Arab citizens a few days ago. Pakistan army has been engaged in operations to drive out foreign militants in the tribal belt for over 18 months. Repeated warnings by the Government to the militants to surrender have failed to produce results.
