Hospital launches health insurance scheme

PANAJI: South Goa-based Apollo Victor Hospital of Alcon Victor Group in association with Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. on Saturday launched "Medi-Access," a scheme that offers comprehensive and affordable healthcare.

Chairman of Alcon Victor Group Victor Albuquerque told The Hindu that the scheme will provide quality treatment to those who are unable to pay for specialty health facilities.

Mr. Albuquerque said that State policy should be to encourage hospitals to provide health insurance as it will have a moderating effect on prices and superfluous investigations.Describing the concept as a "non-profit venture of Apollo Victor Hospital", Mr. Albuquerque explained the different features of the scheme. He said that under a standard scheme, on a one-time payment of Rs. 5,000, a family of four will be covered for a sum of Rs. 50,000 a year, for a period of three years. Under a comprehensive membership scheme, on a one-time payment of Rs. 12,500, the family will be covered for a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh a year for three years.
