PONDICHERRY: A welding failure on the railway line between Chinnababusamudram and Villupuram delayed the arrival of a passenger train to Pondicherry by one hour on Saturday. Railway authorities said trackman on patrol detected the crack on the welding at around 11.30am and immediately alerted the cabin crew of the Chennai-Pondicherry passenger train, which was about to cross the line at that time. The train was stopped in between and the crack was rectified. Railway sources said the crack may be due to the constant change in climate and there is no cause of concern.
