Heavy rain in Pondy

Pondicherry: Pondicherry has been experiencing heavy rain since last night and during last twenty-four hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Saturday 5.3 cm rainfall was recorded. The sky remained overcast for most part of the day after there was respite in the rain in the afternoon.

For last few days it had been raining erratically and most of low lying areas were inundated. The AIADMK MLA, A. Anbalagan, said that around 8 residential areas in Uppalam constituency that he represents were affected by the sharp showers and there were also reports of huts having been damaged under the impact of the heavy rains that pounded Pondicherry since last night.
