Pondicherry
Special Correspondent
Pondicherry: The secretary of the Pondicherry State committee of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and party legislator, A. Anbalagan, has asked the administration to ban private practice by doctors working in government hospitals as their services, particularly those of specialists were not available at critical times. The Government could sanction an allowance for doctors as had been done in Central Government run hospitals such as JIPMER. Addressing reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Anbalagan said there were instances of patients, particularly those injured in road accidents, being admitted to the hospitals in the evening when there were no specialists available.
