HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India secretary K. Narayana has said that the crisis brewing in the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is the making of the top leadership and not due to encouragement of dissidence by outside forces. Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, Mr. Narayana said that when senior TRS leader like Mandadi Satyanarayana Reddy had resented the attitude of the leadership, some leaders were diverting the issue by claiming that attempts were being made to split the party. Instead of overcoming the crisis, they were trying to provoke people of Telangana in the name of injustice being meted out to the region in construction of irrigation projects. (Meanwhile in Ongole, CPI(M) leader B.V. Raghavulu felt that differences among TRS leaders were more on sharing the spoils of power. He said the TRS came into being mainly to settle disputes on power sharing rather than to fight for a cause. So the crisis would only deepen, he predicted.) Mr. Narayana said the Cabinet sub-committee on ASPSRTC should hold discussions with employees unions before bringing reforms in the road transport corporation. He said the committee members and APSRTC officials had visited Bangalore to hold discussions with Indian Institute of Management experts, who had prepared a report to bring reforms in the APSRTC. He said trade unions would not remain quiet if the Government tried to implement the reforms unilaterally. The CPI leader said all tribals who were likely to be displaced due to the construction of the Polavaram project should be enjoy all benefits accruing to them under Schedule 5 of the Constitution. He demanded that the Government commence works on the project only after paying compensation to the displaced people.
